  • Six-legged robot for lunar crater exploration

ESA Luna Robotics Challenge

Highlighted project

In 2008 Micromecc participated with the Sant'Anna Superior School in the ESA Luna Robotics Challenge: a competition between universities organised by the European Space Agency for the realisation of a lunar crater exploration vehicle.

A six-legged robot was proposed capable of walking on the disconnected ground and remotely controlled.

Micromecc realised the joint, leg and feet components as well as the cameras and the release device for the remote communication modules. This required a great technological effort given the size and the need for integration within a carbon fibre frame.
